Amazon has launched the second-generation Echo Buds featuring an all-new design, premium audio capabilities, custom-designed Active Noise Cancellation technology and wireless charging capabilities.

The Echo Buds are designed for an active lifestyle both at home and outdoors with an IPX4 water rating and choice between four ear tip sizes and two wing tip sizes to ensure all-day comfort.

With the integration of Alexa, users can take the digital assistant outside of the home to stay organised and entertained, such as add an item to a to-do-list or request a meditation podcast.

Built with a high-performance driver in each earbud, the new Echo Buds deliver crisp, balanced sound with extended dynamic range. The premium speakers are optimised for fidelity in bass and treble, which reduces distortion during media playback.

Featuring Amazon’s new Active Noise Cancellation technology, the Echo Buds cancel twice as much noise compared to the first generation. The technology uses the inner and outer microphones to intelligently estimate sound pressure in the eardrum to generate the inverse of that signal and cancel out unwanted noise.

To turn on Active Noise Cancellation, simply press and hold either earbud or just say, “Alexa, noise cancellation on.” Alternatively, users can enable Passthrough Mode with a press and hold on either earbud or by saying, “Alexa, Passthrough on.” The onboard microphones in each earbud are optimised to capture lower frequencies compared to the prior generation, so Alexa can hear better and call quality is improved.

The new Echo Buds offer up to five hours of music playback on a single charge with Active Noise Cancellation and hands-free access to Alexa, or up to 15 hours of music playback with the case. A 15-minute quick charge via USB-C or a Qi-certified wireless charging pad will provide up to two hours.
