After months of tempting Australia with the impending launch of its ‘spectacularge’ 90-inch TV, the Sharp Corporation of Australia today released its televisual behemoth onto the market.

In launching the 90-inch 3D LED LCD Full HD Smart TV (LC-90LE740X), Sharp becomes the supplier of the biggest TV to retail in Australia, eclipsing the 84-inch Ultra HD TVs released in late 2012 by LG and Sony.

At RRP $20,999, this TV is not the most expensive in Australia, however, with Sony retaining that crown with its RRP $24,999 ‘4K’ model (KD-84X9000).

“We’re so proud to be bringing Australia the ‘viewmongous’ 90-inch LED LCD TV,” said national marketing manager Mark Beard. “In time for all the New Year’s sports seasons, Australians are going to love this TV.

“The high quality Japanese-made LCD makes at-home viewing a real occasion and all the more enjoyable.”

For just under $21,000, consumers not only receive the biggest TV in Australia, they also get two pairs of 3D glasses and a wireless LAN adaptor for accessing the TV’s Smart features. These include YouTube, social media and web browsing.

The next brand to release a TV bigger than this model in Australia is expected to be Samsung, which launched a 110-inch Ultra HD TV at CES in Las Vegas in early January.
