After stints in Melbourne and Sydney, and on the Gold Coast, the 2012 CEDIA Expo will be staged in Brisbane, in conjunction with the first instalment of the Build & Design Queensland Expo (BDQ).

This change of venue, announced today by CEDIA Expo chair Alexis Caldwell, is part of the organisation’s strategy of moving the venue up and down the Australian east coast.

“Ninety-five per cent of electronic system custom installations involve an architect, builder or interior designer,” Caldwell said. “Co-locating with the BDQ provides a great opportunity for Expo exhibitors and sponsors to reach out to these new audiences.

“It’s also a good time for the Expo to return to Queensland since, according to the recent IBIS World Report, a $10 billion investment is earmarked for the state’s building industry up until 2014, to help recovery from the recent devastating floods.”

The 2012 edition will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from Wednesday 9 May to Friday 11 May 2012.

“In reviewing our visitor statistics over the past four years from the Gold Coast in 2008 to Sydney in 2011, nearly half of all visitors come from within the state of the Expo’s location” said Caldwell.

“So, rotation makes good sense, and gives a welcome opportunity for those Queenslanders who’ve not made it to Sydney or Melbourne for whatever reason to support the show again. And with Brisbane’s cultural, commercial and entertainment attractions, the unique location of BCEC in the riverside South Bank Precinct is certainly a big draw card for sponsors, members, trade suppliers and industry associated guests.”
