Yamaha has introduced the YH-E700B wireless headphones, the latest addition to its wireless headphones offering and the second generation of the E700 class.

The headphones incorporate Active Noise Cancelling (Advanced), voice assistant capability, and an easily toggleable Ambient Sound mode for paying attention to the surrounding environment.

The YH-E700B has refined the tonal balance and sound image of the mid and high-frequency ranges to reproduce a natural, clean sound. In support of safe music listening, Yamaha has included Listening Care – Advanced, which provides intelligent equalisation at any volume.

The YH-E700B uses a low-distortion driver unit and a housing design that suppresses resonance to minimise unnecessary sounds. The driver’s diaphragm uses two layers of laminated film made of multiple materials to achieve a distortion ratio (THD) of less than 1% in the 500–10 kHz range for the input signal.

In addition to the driver unit, the battery and circuit board are mounted inside the housing. Since the components differ between the left and right sides, acoustic spaces in each housing will be different. To address this, the YH-E700B features a baffle design carefully engineered to ensure uniformity between the left and right sides.

Additionally, to regulate interference between the low and high frequencies, air being released from the back of the headphones has systems in place to keep the movement regulated and under control, to maximise the tonal balance of the driver units.

Recognising that the left and right ear often have different characteristics that can impact the sound, particularly when using headphones, Yamaha’s Listening Optimizer analyses and corrects the effects of individual ear shapes and ear pad sealing in real time.

An internal microphone which monitors the signal affected by the shape of the ear and how the headphone is worn, calculating the difference from the original audio signal, and correcting the difference to deliver true sound.

To further support the delivery of an audio signal that matches the original as closely as possible, the physical housing of the YH-E700B has been reimagined.

The previous iteration, the YH-E700A, had both perfectly rounded earcups and headband, the shape of these have been geometrically changed to an oval or ‘egg shaped’ design in the YH-E700B to minimise sound leakage, particularly from the bottom of the housings, to accommodate for the uneven area between the ear and jawline.

By allowing the YH-E700B to apply equal lateral pressure to the entirety of the head, sound leakage is drastically reduced, while concurrently allowing the unit to better accommodate a variety of head and ear shapes.

Available in black and beige, the Yamaha YH-E700B wireless headphones are now available for RRP $499.
