LG Electronics Australia has announced the appointment of Deok Hyeon Moon as the local subsidiary’s new managing director. Moon will head up the Australian and New Zealand branches of the company, and brings 26 years of global experience at LG to his new role.
Moon joins the company following the departure of outgoing MD William Cho who has left to take on a senior position in LG’s home country, Korea. The new MD has come off a two-year stint as the president of LG Russia, before which he spent two years as the head of Panama and the Central America area, which included 24 countries.
In addition to these roles, Moon has also held the positions of CEO and president of LG's French subsidiary, as well senior management roles in Korea.

During his tenure in Russia from 2009 to 2011, Mr Moon was credited with growing LG's market share of in major electrical categories. Under Moon’s watch, LG moved from third to second position in the TV category, second to first position in the AV category, and from number three to number one in the company’s Digital Signage business.
Moon said he was keen to lead the Australian and New Zealand subsidiary, and to continue to build on the company’s recent successes.
“LG Australia and New Zealand is one of our subsidiaries that is really growing in terms of market share and I look forward to further strengthening this to take us to number one,” he said.
“The local marketing team has also implemented innovative social media and experiential campaigns in the last twelve months which are considered leading edge in LG Business and I look forward to taking these to the next level in 2012.”
