Winning Group has outlined its commitment to reconciliation with Australia’s First Nations peoples in its newly released Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Among the highlights of the action plan is to create opportunities to work and strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Winning Group’s organisation, customers, partnerships and beyond.

These opportunities include providing internship and entry level roles tailored for First Nations peoples.

“The Winning Group’s commitment to bringing homes to life for more than a century, aligns with our mission to provide the best experiences in the world, for the world – for our customers, our people, communities and the planet,” said John Winning, CEO of Winning Group.

“Our business and national footprint including our Head Office, Showrooms and Distribution Centres, provides us with an opportunity to play a meaningful role in helping to address the inequity of opportunity, and unacceptable health and education outcomes that exist for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”

The RAP also includes increasing learning and understanding of the First Nations peoples through art, experiences, along with further and constant education about their histories and culture, and the importance of Reconciliation.

“Our new Innovate RAP marks the next step in our reconciliation journey and reflects our company’s commitment to social responsibility and fostering a culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion,” said Alice Kuepper, Head of Sustainability & Industry Impact at Winning Group.

“It aligns closely with our company mission, culture and core values, including Be Proud of Your Differences and Be Respectful and Embrace Change.”

Moreover, the company seeks to continue its philanthropic work to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander charity organisations.

“Implementing an Innovate RAP signals Winning Group’s readiness to develop and strengthen relationships, engage staff and stakeholders in reconciliation, and pilot innovative strategies to ensure effective outcomes,” said Karen Mundine, CEO of Reconciliation Australia.

“Getting these steps right will ensure the sustainability of future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives and provide meaningful impact toward Australia’s reconciliation journey.”
