Australian retail entity, Winning Group has been selected as a finalist in the Banksia Foundation’s National Sustainability Awards for 2025.
The Group has been shortlisted in the Circular Economy Award category for its sustainability initiatives including promoting more responsible consumption, educating consumers and facilitating the recycling and reuse of old appliances, mattresses, and packaging across its retail brands Winnings, Appliances Online, Andoo and Home Clearance.
The Banksia Foundation’s National Sustainability Awards are the longest-running and most respected sustainability awards in Australia, recognising individuals, businesses, and organisations driving positive environmental change.

Winning Group CEO John Winning said, “We are proud to be named a finalist in the Banksia Foundation’s National Sustainability Awards and for our team’s hard work and dedication to be recognised.
“This nomination acknowledges our intention to use our business and our ecosystem as a force for good, which is reflected in our company mission to create the best experiences in the world, for the world – for our customers, our people, our communities and the planet. Through our initiatives including our pioneering and free take-back and recycling program, we are demonstrating that you can build a business that has a positive impact and is commercially successful at the same time.”
Winning Group head of sustainability and industry impact, Alice Kuepper said, “We are very honoured to be named a finalist by the Banksia Foundation and to have our sustainability initiatives acknowledged as driving circular economy outcomes in Australia. We have implemented innovative sustainability initiatives across every stage of the customer journey, including supporting sustainable consumption, preventing waste from polluting communities and waterways, lowering community costs, creating recycling jobs, and promoting material recovery, which all contributes to a thriving circular economy.
“Our free take-back and recycling program addresses the key market failure of collection and is a leading example of a voluntary product and packaging stewardship initiative, which increases circularity for the electronics and home appliance industry and through value chain collaboration, influences wider product stewardship and extended producer responsibility outcomes. It also delivers environmental, social and economic benefits, contributing to a thriving circular economy”.
Winners of the Banksia Foundation National Sustainability Awards will be announced on Thursday 3 April.
