Weber has extended its naming rights partnership with the Australian Women’s Big Bash League following a successful first season.

The extension will carry the partnership forward into the Weber WBBL|09 season, after Weber joined the League for an initial two-year partnership prior to last season.

Weber and Cricket Australia will continue to work with the Clubs and players to strengthen their connections with the brand, including immersive experiences such as that recently undertaken by the Perth Scorchers at the Weber Store in Cannington, Western Australia. The activity saw the squad develop their culinary skills on a range of Weber products.

Weber Barbecues managing director for Australia and New Zealand, Michael McDonald said, “We are delighted to be extending our naming rights partnership of the WBBL. Barbecuing and cricket are the perfect recipe for the Australian summer and our partnership is enthusiastically supported by our consumers, our retail partners and our team.

“We believe that getting involved in barbecuing, like playing cricket, should be inclusive of everyone and we are very proud to be able to support the growth of women’s cricket in Australia.”

Cricket Australia general manager of Big Bash Leagues, Alistair Dobson said, “The League is delighted to be extending its naming rights partnership with Weber barbecues into a third season. Both Weber and the WBBL are world class in their field, but both also share strong links to the essence of summer: fun, family, food and cricket. We look forward to working with Weber over the next two seasons to strengthen these ties and deliver a brilliant experience to our fans nationwide.”
