It is with sadness that we report the death yesterday of industry veteran Trevor Elsworthy. A retailer in Geelong for many years, Elsworthy was chairman of Retravision Southern during the 2000s.

Until June 2013, Elsworthy owned and operated a Retravision outlet that had serviced the Geelong region for almost 80 years. At its height, Elsworthy’s was one of the biggest Retravision stores in the Southern group, with more than 50 employees and millions of dollars in turnover. The outlet won the Electrical Retailing Award for Best Victorian Store in 2006.

Those close to Elsworthy described him as being passionate about the appliances industry and servicing customers to ensure they received the right products for their needs. He is characterised as being from the old school of the industry.

One man who knew Elsworthy intimately is Ray Turner, who was a friend for over 30 years. Turner was the managing director of Retravision Victoria for 15 years and only recently retired from his directorship at The Good Guys.

“Trevor was an icon of the Geelong community for many years,” Turner said. “He was a man who really cared about others and helped them whenever he could, and that was widely recognised.”

A funeral service for Trevor will be held at 2pm on Thursday 20 November 2014 in the Fred Flanagan Room at the Geelong Football Club.
