SYDNEY, NSW: Acer has today launched the newest additions to its Aspire Ethos range with the Acer Aspire Ethos 8951G (18.4-inch) and 5951G (15.6-inch). The two notebooks are targeted to “deliver the ultimate personal theatre” according to an Acer spokesperson.

Chris Osborne, Senior Product Manager Consumer Notebook, Acer Australia spoke about the new models.

The higher-end 8951G boasts a second-generation Intel core i7 processor and Full HD 1080p output, while the 5951G has an i5 processor with HD 720p output. Users can also take their HD content experience to a television with the 8951G, by using HDMI to transfer the 1080p HD “experience” to a compatible TV.

Both models feature Dolby Home Theatre v4 sound systems with five built-in speakers and a subwoofer, and an optional Blu-Ray Disc or DVD optical drive. In addition, each model features Nvidia GeForce GT 500 series discrete graphics, USB 3.0, a 1.3-megapixel HD webcam and Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity.

To bolster the multimedia experience, both the 8951G and the 5951G feature Acer’s unique MediaRemote touchpad, which detaches from the body of the notebook for remote control of the computer’s media functions.

Acers’s new Aspire Ethos notebooks are available immediately for RRP $2,399 for the 5951G, and RRP $2,799 for the 8951G.
