SYDNEY, NSW: One lucky Cairns woman has picked up $10,000 in prize money, thanks to a competition run by Betta Electrical to celebrate its 50th birthday this year.

Betta’s 50th Birthday Bash competition gave consumers an opportunity to $1 million in prize money. Sue Freegard of Trinity Beach, Queensland, was randomly selected from all the entrants to spin a barrel at Betta Electrical Smithfield to win her prize.

The barrel contained 99 envelopes marked with $10,000 and 1 envelope marked with $1 million. Despite picking up $10,000 instead of $1 million, Freegard was still delighted with her win.

“I have been shopping at Betta Electrical for a number of years now and after this fortunate little win I’ll be shopping there for many more years to come,” Freegard said.

According to Betta Electrical group marketing manager Julieanne Worchurst, the competition was designed as a way to reward Betta’s customers for their years of loyalty.

“We have been operating within Australia since 1961 so we are very proud of the large number of mutually-rewarding relationships we have established with our consumers,” Worchurst said.

“Fifty years in the market is a big win for us, so we thought the best way to celebrate was to hold the ‘50th Birthday Bash’ competition and offer our loyal customers the chance to win big also.”

In addition to the lucky barrel draw, Betta was also offering customers gift cards up to the value of $250 in conjunction with selected catalogue purchases.
