SYDNEY, NSW: Sangean Radios has today announced the arrival of the DAB+BOX Ultra Rugged Utility radio.
Distributed in Australia by Canohm, the new digital radio is specifically targeted to “tradies” and rough and tumble consumers, with rugged ABS plastic body and a roll cage for protection, according to a Canohm spokesperson.

Designed specifically for use outdoors or on a worksite, the DAB+BOX utility radio is rain resistant (to JIS4), dust resistant and shock resistant. In addition, if features a five inch water-resistant speaker that is protected by a metal grill, as well as a backlit LCD display and a generous 2.4 metre AC cable.
“It features auto-tune to find a radio station to your liking, and the user can preset up to 10 radio stations for quick access to favourite stations (5 DAB+ and 5FM),” the Canohm spokesperson said. “The LCD display is used to provide program information such as song title, artist, station name even weather and traffic information – if the station broadcasts this.”
According to Canohm’s General Manager Sales & Marketing, Robert Costello, the radio is the perfect mix of tough and technical.
“Australia’s tradies will appreciate the accessibility of additional radio stations to listen to during their workday, including stations not available on AM and FM frequencies,” he said.
“The robust and lightweight Sangean DAB+BOX will be a welcome addition to any work site. If you tire of listening to the radio, or work conditions hinder radio reception, simply plug an iPhone, iPod or MP3 player into the auxiliary input to listen to your favourite music”.
The DAB+BOX is available from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Clive Peeters, Retravision stores as well as specialty dealers in major capital cities broadcasting digital radio. It is available for RRP $299.
