GE Cameras, distributed in Australia by Tasco Sales, is the new sponsor of the 2011 Toyota One Hit Wonder Down Under competition, which is apparently the Southern Hemisphere’s most watched big-air skiing and snowboarding event.

“It’s a totally unique concept which lends itself spectacularly to photo and video content, and we are really excited to be involved,” said Tasco Sales GM Stewart Pickersgill.

“GE’s waterproof and shockproof mini camcorder, the DV1, is one of our best sellers and it’s the perfect camera to shoot full HD video with, whether you’re carving turns in the snow or catching waves at the beach.”

Olympus has launched a new competition to find the star of its upcoming advertising campaign for the Pen E-PL3.

Photographers are invited to submit three of their images and complete a questionnaire on Olympus’ Facebook page, with 20 entrants then selected to take part in the campaign.

“Not everyone who loves photography wants to be a professional photographer. We’re searching for savvy amateur photographers: real people who all have a different view point on what real photography means to them,” said Olympus Pen and DSLR product manager Kristie Radtke.

“Olympus’ Anything But Ordinary campaign is set to celebrate the unexpected, the out of the ordinary and the absolutely unpredictable. We are calling on everyday Australians to give us their take on ‘Anything But Ordinary’.

“In return, Olympus will provide them with their very own Pen E-PL3 camera to test drive and the opportunity to showcase their very best photographs in Olympus’ next advertising campaign.”

The competition runs from Friday 26 August 2011 to Thursday 8 September 2011.
