SYDNEY, NSW: Huawei, the only major mainland Chinese smartphone operator in Australia, will be launching its 2011 range of mobile handsets, mobile broadband and in-home tech devices by the end of June.

The smartphone market in particular has become intensely cluttered in 2011, with major releases from Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola and Sony Ericsson all capturing headlines and the attention of perspective consumers.

Huawei this morning sent out a media note advising that its flagship launch will be on 29 June 2011 in Sydney. This doesn’t mean it will be the next major launch, with the suppliers now so determined to keep their plans under wraps for as long as possible that often less than one week is given before the release of a major new product.

Before launching its own branded products in Australia, Huawei acted as a manufacturing partner for telecommunications providers in Australia. One such product was the Telstra T-Touch Tab. It is unknown if Huawei plans on launching its own tablet at this event.
