Thorn Group, parent company of Radio Rentals and Rentlo, has announced a number of personnel changes across its retail and financial services businesses, aimed at providing direction for the company “as it develops into a broader based financial services organisation”.

The reshuffle will see the general manager of the “core business” of Radio Rentals and Rentlo take on a new role as chief operating officer for Thorn Group, covering Radio Rentals, Thorn Equipment Finance and NCML (National Credit Management Limited).

According to a statement released by Thorn Group today, “this appointment will enable managing director, John Hughes, to concentrate his focus on the development of Thorn Financial Services and any acquisition opportunities that might arise”.

The company has made further internal changes, with Derrick Hubble, previously national sales and operations manager for Radio Rentals, taking on the role of general manager sales and operations.

In addition, Thorn Group has made a number of new appointments from outside the company. Darren-John Aquila, former marketing and merchandising manager with Flexigroup, will join Thorn as general manager marketing and merchandising for Radio Rentals, while Alan Payne will take on the role of national business development manager for Radio Rentals, having previously worked as managing director international with Mr Rental.

Speaking about the personnel changes was Thorn Group MD, John Hughes.

“We are at an exciting stage in the development of the group as a broader based financial services organisation and in addition see further significant potential in the core consumer leasing area,” he said.

“These new appointments will particularly assist us to capitalise on the opportunities we have identified in the Radio Rentals/Rentlo business along with strengthening our operational focus across the Group.”
