SYDNEY, NSW: Audio Products Group has recalled a remote control for home audio systems  after an incident in the United States where a battery caught fire.

As a precautionary measure in Australia the Niles iRemote TS and iC2 has been recalled in case of the battery falling out during use. According to the recall notice issued today by the Australian Competition Consumer Commission (ACCC) if the battery were to rupture on impact, it could potentially ignite causing a fire hazard.

The product was sold from 24 July 2008 through to 28 February 2011 in Queensland at Southport Hi Fi, Australian Theatre Supplies, and in New South Wales at All Digital and Springwood Hi Fi.

The ACCC has encouraged consumers to contact Audio Products for a free of charge modification to be carried out.
