Technics is introducing a limited-edition direct drive turntable system now available in black, red, blue, white, green, yellow and beige with a gold hue tone arm and top panel featuring a special badge with an engraved serial number.

Based on the iconic SL-1200MK7, released during the brand’s Australian relaunch in 2019, there will be approximately 300 units of the SL-1200M7L available in Australia and 12,000 worldwide.

The SL-1200M7L features a coreless direct drive motor for stable rotation and powerful torque, a highly sensitive yet robust tonearm, a two-layer structure platter with improved vibration damping performance, and a high rigidity cabinet and high damping insulator to alleviate vibrations.

There is also a starting torque and brake speed adjustment function, pitch control function and reverse play feature for greater flexibility and customisation, in addition to a stylus illuminator with high-brightness and long-life LED.

“For half a century, Technics has enjoyed the support of DJs and aficionados who have not only chosen the iconic brand for their turntables but customised their units themselves with unique colours that reflect their passions and identity,” Panasonic product marketing manager for imaging and Technics, Aaron Waters said.

“We are proud to recognise this long-standing relationship between DJs and the legendary Technics brand with the launch of SL1200M7L, combining the powerful legacy of Technics with modern innovation and operational capabilities.”

The SL-1200M7L is accompanied by an exclusive slipmat with a gold-coloured Technics logo and a 50th anniversary sticker. It will be released in Australia from May 2022 via selected Technics retailers and will be priced at $1,999.
