While others welcome increased sales.
Godfreys Dee Why, located approximately 22km north-east of Sydney, was forced to keep its doors (literally) closed to stop the rain from coming in during the wild storm on Sunday.
Store manager, Alan Redon, was the only staff member able to reach the store, due to road closures and flooding.
He told Appliance Retailer this morning, “There was not a single customer that came through the doors yesterday, but we are hopeful with conditions expected to ease, that business will improve for today.”
Meanwhile, Bass Hill Plaza, located approximately 30km west of Sydney, experienced a blackout, so the shopping centre was forced to remain closed for the day, according to a Leading Appliances sales representative. The Plaza’s tenants also include Aldi, Kmart, and Woolworths.
Over in Blacktown, approximately 20km north-west of Bass Hill, the weather did not stop locals from shopping at Poco (Leading Appliances), according to supervisor, Leon Feriti.
“Our carpark was slightly flooded, but I think business was as per usual. Fortunately, our team all live locally so they were able to get to the store without any issues,” he said.
However, Glen Innes Leading Appliances, located approximately 240km north-west of Coffs Harbour, welcomed the rain as store traffic increased with customers coming in to buyer heaters and dryers. Sales representative, Anna Brewer said the storm had little impact on her local area.
