This week Smeg is officially joined by Chris Horne in the newly created role of general manager – MDA sales, with responsibility for retail and commercial major domestic appliance sales.

With 28 years’ experience, including 20 years in the home appliance and electronics sector, Horne brings a wealth of knowledge covering product and go to market strategy, channel management and business planning.

Smeg Australia managing director, Wayne Campbell said, “Chris’ industry experience, market knowledge and team management skills will strengthen the senior management group as well as Smeg’s major domestic retail and commercial business units.”

Speaking of his appointment, Horne said, “I’ve long admired the Smeg brand and products and look forward to working with the national team to continue to drive growth of the major domestic appliance business.”

Smeg has earmarked December as the likely date to welcome guests back to the Sydney and Melbourne showrooms. In the meantime, the successful virtual product support and showroom tours (bookings via showme@smeg.com.au) and virtual cooking demonstrations (bookings via cookingdems@smeg.com.au) will continue, possibly beyond December due to popularity.

“Although I’m very much looking forward to face-to-face contact, I remain committed to the safety and wellbeing of the Smeg team. As a business we will continue to comply with government regulations to ensure the protection of all our staff and customers. I would like to sincerely thank the Smeg team and our business partners for their support and dedication during the pandemic,” Campbell said.
