Ever the innovators, Dyson will be releasing its first winter appliance, the Dyson Hot, in Australia in 2012. Launched in New York overnight, the Dyson Hot (AM04) gives the English brand a year-long presence in the seasonal category.

The Dyson Hot took 22 engineers 3 years to develop. Chief among these engineers was company founder Sir James Dyson.

“Other fan heaters rely on inefficient motors or dust friendly grills,” said Dyson. “As the heat rises you’re left with a partially heated room, and a worrying burning smell. Dyson engineers have developed a heater that produces no smell and heats the whole room.”

The Dyson Hot can be set to heat a room between 1° and 37° Celsius. Once the desired temperature is reached, the appliance monitors room temperature and will adjust should it detect any drop in heat.

Inside the Dyson Hot, which will be available in blue and white tones, is a ceramic element to provide heat. The outer casing remains cool-to-touch when in operation, while a remote control gives users the ability to adjust the settings from the couch.

No local pricing has yet been announced for the Dyson Hot.
