Sony Australia has started offering a free removal and recycling program for old TVs, provided consumers buy their new TV from a Sony Centre retail outlet.
In a move designed to pre-empt the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme, which comes into effect in July 2012, Sony is promoting the sale of its Bravia TVs at Sony Centres as an environmentally conscious purchase, with free delivery and installation of the new TV also thrown in.

“Sony has a deep commitment to addressing e-waste in Australia, which aligns with our global corporate goal to reach zero environmental footprint by 2050,” said Sony ANZ head of service Stuart Clark.
“Addressing eco considerations right through the product lifecycle, from design through to end of life is a key stepping stone towards that vision.
“As a founding member of the Product Stewardship Association, Sony has been at the forefront of lobbying for a national solution to e-waste in Australia, over many years and we are delighted to now be at the pointy end where the customer will benefit.”
Sony Bravia consumers will also receive a free 12-month subscription to Quickflix’ new on-demand IPTV movie library.
