Samsung is offering consumers more choice when it comes to layout and capacity, adding two new bottom mount French Door models to its Food Showcase range of refrigerators.

The two new models will join the 636-litre Samsung Food Showcase (RRP $4,599), a side-by-side refrigerator with a transparent internal door, that was launched in May this year.

On trend with growth segments in the category, the new models have massive capacities: a 886-litre four-door model (RRP $4,599) and the 828-litre three-door model (RRP $4,299).

According to GfK data from 2013, the French door segment grew by 47 per cent in units, and 51 per cent in value compared to the same period in 2012. Further, models with a capacity of 700 litres or greater make up the 35 per cent of the market.

The stand-out feature of the range is the innovative Showcase door — a transparent extra layer which sits between the external door and internal shelves — a practical way to easily store and spot frequently used items such as milk and butter.

Mike Lilly, head of home appliances, Samsung Electronics Australia noted, “Not only are the new three and four-door, French door models aesthetically beautiful, they offer a  sophisticated design in a large capacity format — great for entertaining. In addition to the Showcase door, there are other smart storage features including, foldable shelves for when you need to make room for large platters.”

“At their heart, we want our appliances to complement and help manage the daily life of Australian families and we believe that the Food Showcase range does this in a way that is different from any refrigerator range Samsung has offered in the past,” Lilly added.

The new models have a similar form factor to LG’s Door-in-Door refrigerators, including the massive 951-litre French door model, pictured below.

In other Samsung news, the Samsung SlideLiner will make its first appearance whizzing up and down the sideline of the Wallabies versus All Blacks match at ANZ Stadium, on Saturday 16 August 2014.

Samsung describes it as a “comfortable, four person ‘couch’ that will sit on tracks beside the pitch, following the action along the field of play as the Qantas Wallabies take on the All Blacks and Springboks in The Castrol Edge Rugby Championship 2014.”

Each person will have access to an internet-enabled Samsung tablet and cameras attached to the seats so that they can capture and share shots from the sideline.

Samsung SlideLiner & Wallabies

Samsung have been running a competition to win seats in the SideLiner when consumers purchase a selected Samsung Smart TV between 14 July and 30 September 2014.

The first phase of the competition has closed, but people are still able to enter for the chance to win a SideLiner seat for the Wallabies versus Springboks match in Perth, Saturday 6 September 2014 and the Wallabies versus All Blacks game in Brisbane, Saturday 18 October 2014.
