SYDNEY, NSW: Following on from AMD’s launch of its A-Series Accelerated Processing Units, Samsung has announced the arrival of a new notebook that capitalises on the technology.

The 305V (RRP $599 – $1,199) will join Samsung’s Series 3 notebook range, along with the 300V ($1,299) which features an Intel Core i5 processor. Both notebooks will feature slim bezel screen technology and will run Windows 7 Home Premium.

“The new Samsung Series 3 Notebook range is ideal for social networkers or students who want a portable, stylish notebook, backed up by fast processing power for optimal performance,” said the head of IT for Samsung Electronics Australia, Emmanuele Silanesu.

“The Series 3 range offers some of the premium design features previously only seen in Samsung’s top end notebooks in the form of a new look slimmer bezel and thin, lightweight design.”

The narrow, 10.3 millimetre bezel increases the viewable screen size by one inch compared with previous Samsung models. Both models also feature Samsung’s Fast Start technology that offers “instant on” use, without the need to wait up to a minute for the computer to boot up.

The Samsung 305V Notebook features “the latest AMD Accelerated Processor (up to Quad Core) providing the optimum balance of performance and energy efficiency”.

The two higher end 305V models also feature Radeon Dual Graphics, with up to 1GB of dedicated memory. By switching between internal graphics and the second graphics processor depending on the complexity of the task, this technology helps to prolong battery life.

The Samsung 305V and 300V will be available from early August.

The Series 3 300V notebook retails for $1,299.

Joining the Series 3 notebooks are additions to the Series 4 and Series 6 range.

“We have developed these Notebook PCs to provide durable, reliable and powerful business solutions,” said Silanesu. “They have been built with new design features and added processing power to cater to today’s demanding work environment.”

The Series 4 (NP400B5B-S01AU, RRP $1,199) and Series 6 (NP600B5B-S01AU, RRP $1,399) both feature 15.6-inch screens, Windows 7 Professional and Intel i5 processors. The Series 4 notebook offers a 500GB hard disk drive and 6.6 hours of battery life, while the Series 6 offers a 640GB hard disk drive with 9 hours battery life.

Samsung's Series 6 notebook means business.
