The head of Harvey Norman’s consumer electronics and AV categories has resigned after more than a decade with the company. Ben McIntosh left his position as general manager of Harvey Norman’s Technology & Entertainment Division on Monday, with a replacement yet to be announced.
McIntosh came into the role in April 2012 as part of a company-wide restructure that saw Harvey Norman’s Electrical and Computer divisions reorganised into the 'Technology & Entertainment' division, headed up by McIntosh, and a 'Home Appliance' division led by general manager Haydon Myers.

In an industry announcement from Harvey Norman in early 2012, CEO Katie Page said the restructure and McIntosh’s appointment was coordinated to “ensure that at all times, our model is aligned with the needs of our business partners, emerging technologies and emerging trends”.
As head of Technology and Entertainment, McIntosh was responsible for a number of categories including TV, portable audio and home theatre, computer hardware and software, gaming, imaging and mobile phones.
McIntosh has described himself as having an “exceptional track record” at the company, saying he “added substantial value, consistently over delivered against demanding expectations in challenging environments and…elevated performance to achieve outstanding results”.
Throughout his career at Harveys, McIntosh worked as a franchisee in New Zealand, Brisbane and Sydney, as general manager of Joyce Mayne and as the country manager for Harvey Norman’s Slovenian operations, where he was involved in the launch of Harvey Norman’s first store outside Australia and New Zealand, effectively kickstarting the retail brand’s expansion into international markets.
