Polaroid’s latest instant camera, the Flip, is set to hit shelves across Australia on May 13, 2025.

The Polaroid Flip introduces a number of technical updates while maintaining the analog charm the brand is known for.

Designed with a flippable lid for lens protection, the camera incorporates a hyperfocal four-lens system that automatically selects the most suitable focal length based on subject distance.

It also updates Polaroid’s sonar autofocus, which uses sound waves to measure distance and improve focus accuracy, even in low light. An adaptive flash built into the camera’s lid adjusts intensity depending on how far the subject is, aiming to improve results in various lighting conditions.

A built-in scene analysis feature provides visual exposure alerts via the viewfinder or external display, helping users correct under- or overexposed shots before capturing. The Flip also includes Bluetooth connectivity, allowing it to pair with the Polaroid app. Through the app, users can access additional tools such as double exposure, self-timer options, and manual settings control.

Compatible with both Polaroid i-Type and 600 film, the Flip charges via USB-C and comes with a neck strap. It’s designed to offer an alternative to digital photography by encouraging a more tactile, intentional approach to image-making.

To support the release, Polaroid will also launch an in-store experience at WALKENS House of Film in Fitzroy, Melbourne starting on May 27. The pop-up space will feature hands-on product demonstrations and curated photo moments designed to showcase the Flip’s capabilities in action.

The Polaroid Flip will be available at major retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Myer, and WALKENS House of Film for $399.
