Oral-B has added to its line of power toothbrushes with the iO 9 and 8 Series that claims to remover 100% more plaque removal after eight weeks, and the same results for healthier gums in just one week, compared to a regular manual toothbrush.

The iO features a unique magnetic drive that distributes energy more efficiently to the tips of the bristles with a redesigned brush head combining oscillating and rotating cleaning motions. The smart pressure sensor displays a red light when brushing too hard and a green light when right, protecting gums and enamel.

The OLED intuitive coloured display shows seven mode settings, time tracking and charging progress. By connected to the Oral-B app the iO9 provides individual feedback and recommendations via a new 16-zone brushing performance analysis. A full charge takes three hours.

Procter & Gamble Health Care CEO, Steve Bishop said the iO strikes the right balance between effectiveness and experience. “It re-imagines how a brush performs, cleans and feels,” he said.

The new Oral-B iO toothbrush is available now at Shaver Shop stores around Australia and Oral-B has equipped retailers with digital lift and learn displays and live product demonstrations to enhance product education. Oral-B is also providing in-depth training from senior developers of the iO brush, including Dr Phillip Hundeshagen, senior scientist from Oral-B’s Kronberg Innovation Centre in Germany.

This ensures all Shaver Shop staff are receiving training directly from the product development team, rather than passed through multiple touch points, a spokesperson told Appliance Retailer.

The iO was one of the Innovation Award Honorees at CES 2020.

RRPs are $749 for the iO9 (black) and $649 for the iO8 (white).
