OPPO is adding a new smartphone to its A Series range with the introduction of the A16s featuring a 6.52-inch Eye Care display, 5,000mAh battery and AI-powered triple camera for RRP $249.

Speaking of the new device, OPPO Australia managing director, Michael Tran said, “The A16s was designed by taking into account the same considerations that we do for our flagship devices, as we believe in creating modern, reliable tech that’s accessible to all.

“It’s important to us that we can offer devices that stand-out, which is why the A16s doesn’t compromise either looks or performance, with premium finishes, a powerful AI triple camera and several optimisation features.”

A dedicated sheet design process for the camera module and the back of the A16s gives the device a premium look, as light reflects off it from different angles. Ergonomically designed with 3D curved edges, the A16s measures 8.4mm in thickness and weighs just 190g. It also includes a side fingerprint scanner and face unlock.

The 6.52-inch Eye Care display offers adaptive brightness that goes as low as two nits to suit all environments from dim lighting to bright sunlight.

The A16s’s triple camera features a main 13MP sensor, 2MP depth sensor and 2MP macro camera, in addition to the 8MP front-facing camera. For more vivid colour, the AI-powered Dazzle Colour mode can automatically change colour saturation and contrast ratios.

Boasting a large 5,000mAh battery, the A16s also provides several optimisation features including Super Nighttime Standby, Super Power Saving Mode, Optimised Overnight Charging and Smart Temperature Control.

The device also comes with Google Lens OCR to translate foreign languages, and with Google Nearby compatibility, users can easily share photos, videos and files with nearby friends with a simple tap.

Designed with safety in mind, parents can limit children’s access to apps and games via App Lock and with OPPO’s Private Safe users can store files securely, outside of anyone else’s reach.

The OPPO A16s is now available in Crystal Black at Optus and Vodafone with the latter also offering a Pearl Blue variant. The Crystal Black option will become available at Telstra from 15 November and both colours will be available at leading retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys and Harvey Norman from 4 November.
