Consumer electronics distributor Crest Electronics has appointed a new marketing manager, bringing FMCG marketing veteran Jane Richter into the role.

Beginning at the company last week, Richter took on the communications role following a recent stint in consultancy. Prior to this, Richter worked in marketing roles at Cement Australia and food company Goodman Fielder, as well as Sara Lee and Coca-Cola among other brands.

In her new role, Richter will be responsible for marketing a number of consumer electronics brands in Crest’s portfolio — including Philips, Liquid Ears and Energizer — which are distributed to more than 4,000 retailers Australia-wide, including Harvey Norman, Betta Home Living, Bing Lee, Big Brown Box and Myer.

Speaking about her appointment, Richter said she would be working with Crest on product development with a view to providing “customer and technology insights” to help drive the development process, and that it was an evolving role.

“I will also be responsible for comms, so if we’re going to do a new product launch it will be my responsibility to look at communications, whether that be to trade or to consumers," she said.

As for Crest itself, Richter said she admired the company and was looking forward to working in the new role.

“As an independent family company, to reach the size and scale that Crest has in a highly competitive and rapidly changing marketplace, I’m really excited by the opportunities for us to move forward from a very solid base."
