Retailers and suppliers in NSW can apply for a rebate for up to half the value of small scale recycling equipment such as compressors, organics processors, shredders, grinders and dehydrators, worth between $4,000 and $50,000. The rebates apply until 2016.

The government rebates are being offered through NSW Environment Protection Authority to encourage businesses to minimise waste.

Packaging material such as paper, cardboard, expanded polystyrene, mixed paper and cardboard, mixed plastics and rigid plastic can be recycled with equipment eligible for rebates such as shredders, balers, roll packers and bin pressers.

To qualify, businesses must undertake a free BinTrim audit prior to applying for a rebate.  A catalogue of eligible recycling equipment is available here.

South Australia has the Zero Waste SA agency, which provides information, resources and case studies encouraging better recycling. In the ACT the Territory and Municipal Services provide free information, signage and other resources including commercial cleaner training.
