Dash cam market leader in the UK, US, and Europe, Nextbase has launched its dash cam range with an exclusive Emergency SOS feature to the Australasian market.

The Nextbase Series 2 range comprises of five models – 122, 222, 322GW, 422GW and 522GW. The Emergency SOS feature, which is triggered in the event of a serious accident, is available on the mid-spec 322GW model and above.

It runs through 23 protocols to determine the seriousness of the crash and if there is no response after 60 seconds, data is sent to an operations centre who will attempt to contact the dash cam owner. If the owner does not respond, emergency services will be dispatched with information including location data, travelling direction, blood type and next of kin details, sent to the 000 operator.

The Series 2 range is also compatible with Amazon Alexa, enabling drivers to speak to the dash cam directly to ask for directions, find parks, take a picture, make a call, check the weather, listen to news or music, and even control smart home devices from the car.

The Nextbase dash cams also come with Bluetooth connectivity and are accompanied by the MyNextbase Connect app that allows drivers to review, edit and publish videos, as well as collect GPS data, speed, and G-force and take advantage of free and secure online storage through the MyNextbase Cloud.

Accessories include SD cards, polarising filter, carry cases and hardware kits. Other Nextbase modules such as the rear view, rear window and cabin view cameras can be synced with the dash cam as an easy plug and play solution.

Nextbase director, Richard Browning said the company is thrilled to enter the Australian market and looks forward to helping motorists drive smarter and safer.

“2020 has seen limited air and sea travel for Australians, and for those states where it’s permitted, we’ve already seen increased interest in holidaying by car,” he said.

“As COVID restrictions hopefully continue to ease and allow further intrastate and interstate travel nation-wide, we are determined to make sure that families are staying safe on the roads with the correct tools to do so. Nextbase products are designed with a focus on the driver’s wellbeing and safety, reducing anxiety by ensuring every part of your journey is documented.”

Nextbase dash cams are now available at Harvey Norman, Camera House, Officeworks, Diamonds and Betta stores with RRPs starting from $99 up to $399.
