The Jura E8 and Z10 have been recognised as best performers in CHOICE’s latest test for fully automatic coffee machines with a score of 81% and 88% respectively for ease of use.

“It is such an honour to be recognised by CHOICE, Australia’s leading consumer advocacy organisation. Jura’s ambition is to be a global innovative leader in automatic specialty coffee machines and this recognition is significant,” Jura Australia managing director, George Liakatos said.

“The E8 and Z10 are recent additions to our product range so to be recognised as best performers in the category is a great achievement. The E8 has recently been upgraded with an extra shot function, while the Z10 takes coffee lovers to a new level, being the world’s first fully automatic machine to serve hot and cold brew at the touch of a button.”

During testing, CHOICE’s expert removes any residual factory smells and tastes, and pumps a litre of hot water through each of the machines. They then make 20 to 25 shots of espresso coffee one after another to make sure the built-in bean grinder is at the correct setting.

They measure the consistency of four consecutive coffees for each automatic coffee machine after warming it up for five minutes. They add five minutes for thermoblock and small boiler machines, and 30 minutes for heat exchangers.

Three experts test the espressos in a ‘blind’ tasting, checking the colour and thickness of the crema, aroma, flavour, mouth feel and aftertaste.
