UnderCurrent has a little-known history in the 1980s hair metal scene. After touring with the likes of Poison, Motley Crue, Whitesnake and underground Nordic glam rock band Odin’s Fury, UnderCurrent had a highly successful solo career, spent touring the world and recording cult classic albums such as Full Metal Thrust and Tokyo Stopover.
So it was with great joy that we spotted this little gem from the Love Bites singers themselves, Def Leppard.
Currently being auctioned on eBay by Breville’s factory outlet store, this BES900 Dual Boiler espresso machine has been airbrushed with the Def Leppard logo and was both used and signed by the band members during their 2012 Australian tour. Conveniently, the machine has its steam wand on the right-hand side, making it suitable for one-armed drummers.
And because every good coffee machine needs an equally awesome support act, the BES900 is accompanied by BCG800 Smart Grinder, signed by Heart (who were also on the tour). Oooh, Barracuda indeed.
Bids are currently hovering around the $1,800 mark, but you can buy the set outright for $20,000 (roughly the cost of a standard Vegas tour hotel bill). All proceeds raised will be donated to Coffee Kids, “a not-for-profit organisation that works with organisations in coffee-farming communities in Latin America to create education projects in health care, economic diversification, food security and capacity building”.
And because the machines have been used, the winning bidder can elect to have them cleaned by Breville or to keep them as is, dusted with the grindings of two of rock’s biggest legends.
That’s sure to get fans Adrenalized.
Rock of Ages: While UnderCurrent wants the real thing, we'll have to make do with this Photograph.
