SYDNEY, NSW: Haier, which owns a fifth of the New Zealand company, have selected Liang Haishan to replace Carmichael on the board of directors. Under the terms of Haier’s 20 per cent stake in Fisher & Paykel, Haier is invited to supply two board member nominees.

Liang’s tenure at Haier stretches to 1988 and he has been active in various refrigeration divisions; he holds a PhD in Business Administration. Liang’s most recent positions include executive vice president of Haier Group and president of Haier Whitegoods Group since 2007.

Liang has also held roles as vice president of Haier Group and managing director of Haier refrigeration divison from 2005.
