JBL has launched the latest model in its Bar Series line-up – the JBL Bar 9.1 soundbar – with the addition of Dolby Atmos built-in for the first time and streaming support for Google Chromecast and Apple Airplay 2. This follows the launch of the Bar 2.0, 2.1 and 5.1 earlier in the year.

The new 820-watt soundbar offers JBL’s signature Original Pro Sound alongside four upward-facing Dolby Atmos drivers and two battery-powered detachable wireless rear speakers to deliver a 3D listening experience. A 10-inch powered subwoofer is included to enhance bass levels.

The Bar 9.1 also supports Dolby Vision for 4K video input to optimise the picture. With Google Chromecast support, the soundbar can be part of a multi-room speaker set up and AirPlay 2 built-in means users can stream music directly to the soundbar.

Harman Australia and New Zealand brand activation director, Marcus Fry said the JBL Bar 9.1 True Wireless Surround Sound with Dolby Atmos enhances and redefines the listening experience for home entertainment.

“At JBL, we are excited to bring professional, cutting edge audio technology straight into our customers’ living rooms with our first Dolby Atmos-powered soundbar.”

The new soundbar is now available for RRP $1,499.95 at Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi stores.
