SYDNEY, NSW: Newly independent premium brand Smeg will soon be launching a new line into the Australian marketplace. Created by renowned Australian designer Marc Newson, the new range of major cooking appliances will join the Classic and Linear ranges which have so far proven popular with consumers.

The inaugural boss of Smeg’s new Australian operation, Andrew Cronin, revealed this in an interview published in the March edition of Appliance Retailer magazine.

“Smeg has always been renowned for having many lines,” Cronin told AR magazine. “The base of that is wonderful engineers that produce a wonderful platform.

“Within the next couple of months, we’re going to be launching a Mark Newson range: it is very different, it’s very innovative and it’s very elegant.”

When asked how the Marc Newson range compares to the existing styles, Cronin highlighted the prevalence of new colours.

“It is futuristic, to a degree, with a touch of retro to it, and it is very user friendly. There’s stainless steel, black and white versions, but there’s also a green and a blue. It’s very different.”
