Harvey Norman and The Good Guys have shared details of stores in northern NSW and South East Queensland impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Harvey Norman chairman, Gerry Harvey, told Appliance Retailer that two stores are confirmed to be affected, however other stores that were previously impacted are currently trading as normal.
“The two big stores we were worried about – Lismore and Oxley – are ok. They are the two big ones that could go under. Bundall is fine,” Harvey said.
“We have a bit of a problem at Hervey Bay and Grafton. We were worried about Oxley in particular because when it went under four of five years ago, that was huge – and that store has gone under twice,” he said.
The Good Guys provided an update online claiming most of its stores have re-opened. Its website is currently showing that its store located at Hervey Bay is open but its Oxley store is closed due to Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
“As there is still severe weather causing localised disruption in the region we recommend checking here before visiting our stores over the coming days to ensure we are open,” The Good Guys said on its website.
“Please be aware that recent disruptions has caused some delays in deliveries and processing and our team are working hard to process and reschedule impacted orders.
“If you are waiting to collect a click & collect order, please wait for your SMS prior to proceeding to store and check here for UPDATES before collection.
“If your order delivery was previously cancelled, an SMS requesting a new date from you will be sent to you. Please follow the instructions on that SMS to rebook your delivery. Thank you for your patience as we catch up and we look forward to seeing you in store or online again soon!”
A statement issued over the weekend by JB Hi-Fi provided an update on the impact of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
“The safety of our customers and team members is our key priority, and as such, we continue to monitor conditions effecting all Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Tweed stores. Where it is safe to do so we will reopen stores on Sunday 9th March from mid-morning.
“From Sunday, to check if your local store is open, use this link to store trading hours to find out if your local store is back open. Delivery and click & collect times of orders may also be impacted,” JB Hi-Fi said.
