Sales for Chromebooks fell 7.3% in Q1, 2022, which contributed to the overall market decline, according to a preliminary report from US tech firm Gartner.

Excluding Chromebooks, the PC market grew by a modest 3.3%. In addition to weakened Chromebook sales, slower consumer demand contributed to the downward trend, as discretionary spending shifted away from devices.

However, there was growth in business PCs in Q1, 2022, as hybrid work and the return to offices created demand for desktop devices.

The top three vendors in global PC sales was unchanged with Lenovo in the top spot, followed by HP and Dell, then Apple, Asus and Acer.
