Emilia has introduced new electric cooktop options designed to simplify the switch from gas cooktops by introducing products with identical sizes.
Glem Gas managing director, David Gilmore explains that typically installing electric cooktops requires a cutout of 560mm x 490mm, while gas cooktops use a slightly smaller 560mm x 480mm cutout.
“This difference means that anyone wanting to move from gas to electric must enlarge their benchtop cutout – a tricky and sometimes hazardous job, especially with stone surfaces.
“Now, Emilia has solved the problem with two new models that fit perfectly into a standard gas cutout, so there’s no need for messy modifications making this process simple and stress-free.”
The two new models are the Emilia EMCER64FIT – 4-zone ceramic cooktop (RRP $999) and the Emilia EMIND64FIT – 4-zone induction cooktop (RRP $1199).

Both cooktops feature four cooking zones, intuitive touch controls, and premium Italian ceramic glass.
“The Emilia EMCER64FIT ceramic cooktop replaces the Emilia EMCER64E model. While the overall product features remain similar, the main update is the revised cut-out size – it is a big advantage over the old model.
“The Emilia EMIND64FIT induction cooktop is a new addition to the range. This addition has been developed specifically to strengthen and support our electric oven program, giving consumers more choice across fuel types and ensuring we can meet the growing interest in induction technology.
“These new cooktops are being distributed through all of our retail partners, including Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Betta Stores, Bing Lee, Retravision, Winning Appliances, Appliances Online, and our trusted network of independent retailers,” Gilmore said.

Speaking about the market, Gilmore said consumer buying activity remains typical for this stage of the year.
“Overall demand is steady, but monthly product sales are proving increasingly difficult to predict, with shifting consumer preferences continuing to surprise us. Price competition remains intense, especially in core, commodity-driven categories, where margins are under the most pressure. Despite these challenges, we are encouraged that demand for gas appliances remains solid, highlighting their continued importance in Australian kitchens.
“Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on offering well-positioned products across all fuel types – ceramic, induction, and gas – ensuring that Emilia maintains a balanced and competitive range to suit different consumer needs.”
