It was a packed Big Top, the event space at Sydney’s Luna Park for the first Fujifilm Creator Summit where nearly 2000 creators gathered over two days for keynotes and workshops and an immersive experience on the Ferris wheel.

Fujifilm ANZ general manager Shaun Mah told Appliance Retailer the inaugural summit was all about celebrating the content creative economy which is booming at the moment. “This was an event for people to learn, start something new and get motivated with content in general,” referring to it as “the start of something bigger”.

“It was great to see the Australian content creator community come together for a weekend of inspiration to learn, share and build meaningful connections. Creators left energised and ready to take on 2025.”

He rolled out some statistics, namely that 12 months ago six million Australians were identified as content creators.

“Importantly over the last decade the barriers to creative activity have been removed. What used to take a network of channels to broadcast to millions of people can now be achieved with the tip of your finger and a tap on your screen. It has never been simpler and faster to create content, tell your story or reach a large audience,” he said.

Sydney was chosen for the event because Mah said it was an opportunity for creators to come along and share their knowledge and wisdom at Luna Park. And with a nod to the famous smiling face at the entrance… adding… “to make people smile and enjoy themselves.”

As to the likelihood of future summits his response was “stay tuned” noting the huge turnout surpassed expectations, “which was an inspiring demonstration of the extent of Australia’s creativity and innovation via emerging forms of social media”.

AR spoke to an 18-year university student for his thoughts on the event. He was impressed with the opening keynote speakers that included comedian Jimmy Rees and influencer-turned-entrepreneur Brittney Saunders, who presented their stories of starting small on YouTube, Facebook and other media, that allowed them to blossom their careers in the direction they wanted to.

“Overall, it was interesting to learn about how different forms of social media have become intertwined with the success of businesses and its role as a powerful platform for people to share their stories,” he said.
