Fujifilm has added to its X Series of digital compact cameras with the X half, a retro designed half-frame camera, intended to offer new opportunities for capturing creative photo experiences.

The X half features a rear LCD monitor for vertical shooting two images or videos or a mix on one frame, with built-in flash and video light for shooting in all conditions. In other words, it captures two images in a single frame of film, providing richer story telling capabilities than single images.

“The X half is pushing the boundaries of what Fujifilm can do as an imaging company, Fujifilm Australia general manager for Optical Devices, Shaun Mah said. “With the look and feel of a traditional half-frame film camera, but with the internals and technology that comes with digital imaging. The new dedicated X half app to digitally develop, view and edit will make sharing creations easier than ever before,” he said.

Lightweight and compact at 240g including battery and card, it is also equipped with 13 Film Simulations providing different colour expressions for selecting specific photo films for different subjects and scenes. Various film grain textures can be applied for creating special effect to change the appearance of still images and movies with a new Date Stamp function for imprinting on images and film photos.

The X half can be paired with Bluetooth camera devices for transferring still images and movies to a smartphone.

Available from electrical retailers including JB Hi-Fi, digiDirect, Teds, Georges, Camera Pro and Camera House, from June 12. Supplied with a lens cap, hand strap and clip with an RRP of $1,349.
