Fujifilm has kicked off its GFX Challenge Grant Award Program for 2024, encouraging aspiring content creators to get involved.

Initially launched in 2021, the GFX Challenge Grant Program nurtures emerging photography talent by supporting them to bring their photography and videography projects to life.

With almost $150,000 worth of grants on offer this year, five global award recipients will each receive over $14,000 and 10 regional award recipients will each receive over $7,000. All winning content will be showcased in an exhibition, as well as on the Fujifilm X website.

Entries are open until 15 September 2024 online via the Fujifilm GFX Challenge 2024 website.

Fujifilm Australia general manager of electronic imaging and optical devices, Shaun Mah said, “At Fujifilm, we’re passionate about inspiring creativity and curiosity through the lens of photography – and that’s why we’re excited to be bringing the Fujifilm GFX Challenge back this year.

“The Challenge presents a rare opportunity for content creators to bring a passion project of theirs to life – and with the mentoring and financial backing of an established photography brand too. We can’t wait to see this year’s collection of creative entries and are delighted by the prospect of helping Australian creatives unlock their potential.”

From September 16, Fujifilm will review the submissions and select 15 project proposals from three geographical regions, 45 submissions total, that will be evaluated in the second round. By October 10, 2024, each selected regional finalist will be informed via email and the necessary interviews will be scheduled.

From October 11, candidates will be asked for an interview with Fujifilm. Five finalists from each geographical region, 15 total, will be selected to proceed to the final round.

From October 26, the global Grant Award judging team will review each candidate and select the five global grant award recipients, with the remaining 10 finalists receiving regional grant awards.

The award recipients will then be announced in January 2025.
