Miele DA 7000 Aura Island Hood (RRP $5,999)
A 2012 Australian International Design Award winner, this rangehood recirculates the air through charcoal filters to eliminate ducting from the appliance. While the function is efficient, the form is outstanding: this slimline rangehood is designed to levitate above an island cooking station, suspended by wires to create a floating illusion.

Nespresso U (RRP $299)
Launched just before Father’s Day, the Nespresso U specialises in automation — extraction, pouring and pod disposal are all processed with one touch. The magnetic modular designs means the milk tray and cup holder can be swivelled to make room on a tight benchtop or to accommodate larger cups.
Samsung NaviBot S SR8980 (RRP $1,299)
The standout feature on this refreshed robot from Samsung’s NaviBot range is auto dust emptying. Almost doubling the cleaning capacity of this model compared to its predecessor, the NaviBot returns to its docking and charging station to empty out its contents before returning to work. An updated mapping system further means this model is better at avoiding furniture and obstacles.
