Fisher & Paykel has received Canstar Blue’s Customer Satisfaction Award for 2021, taking out the top spot in the refrigerator category.

The comparison website asked over 1,550 Australians who purchased and used a refrigerator in the last three years to rate them on overall satisfaction as well as reliability, value for money, internal layout, food freshness, features, quality of fittings and external design.

Fisher & Paykel outclassed the competition with five-star ratings in seven out of eight categories.

While Fisher & Paykel received five stars for overall satisfaction as well as six out of seven other categories, it received a four-star rating for value for money. Brands that achieved a five-star rating for value for money included Hisense, Kelvinator and Haier.

Other five-star recipients included Kelvinator for food freshness, LG for features and external design, Westinghouse for quality of fittings, and Hisense for external design.

Canstar Blue research has found that the most popular reason for switching to a smart fridge was to stay up to date with the latest technology (51%), followed by aesthetics (40%), finding them trendy (34%) and appeal for online capabilities (33%).

On average Australian consumers spend $1,161 on a new fridge and use it for nine years. Price is the most important factor in the purchase decision (31%), followed by size (19%) and capacity (16%).
