MELBOURNE: Teac Australia has announced the appointment of Hiroshi Toku-Shige as CEO and executive director, replacing Shigefumi Nakamura, who is returning to Japan for personal reasons.

With 25 years experience in the consumer electronics industry, Mr Toku-Shige most recently held the position of general manager – overseas business at Teac Corporation Japan. He was assigned the position of general manager, sales and marketing at Teac Australia in January this year.

Mr Nakamura is credited with Teac Australia’s formation as a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of Teac Corporation of Japan in September last year.

“Mr Nakamura was instrumental in securing the ongoing success of the Teac brand in Australia,” said Mr Toku-Shige.

“I wish to continue his strong leadership, expertise and commitment as we build Teac’s reputation nationally as a leader of innovative and competitive consumer electronics products into the future.”

“The release earlier this month of our new Identity LCD television range is a significant part of our strategy and commitment for future growth as these LCD TV products reinforces the integrity of our brand,” Mr Toku-Shige said.
