Apple’s self-described “magical” tablet, the iPad 2, will go on sale at Telstra stores from Tuesday next week (15 November 2011). Telstra will only be selling the Wi-Fi + 3G version of the iPad 2, which is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB varieties.

Telstra is offering a range of post-paid and pre-paid plans for the iPad 2, with both the 16GB and 32GB models available for $0 upfront. The 64GB model is available on post-paid plans for $24 upfront.

Post-paid purchasers have the choice of four data plans: 1GB, 4GB, 8GB and 15GB.

Pre-paid purchasers can buy the iPad 2 for $720 (16GB), $840 (32GB) and $936 (64GB). These prices are, respectively, $9, $1 and $13 less than what Apple charges on its online site.

"With Australians adopting mobile tablets in record numbers, Telstra is delighted to make the iPad 2 available to purchase from select Telstra Stores around Australia," said Telstra Mobile Broadband director Anthea Roberts.

“Our customers will be able to buy iPad 2 on a plan that includes no upfront fee, a generous monthly data allowance and which allows them to pay the device off over 24 months.

“Customers will also be able to purchase iPad 2 outright and team it with one of our popular iPad pre-paid options that allows them to top up data as they need.”

Telstra is selling the iPad 2 via its shopfronts, its call centre and its online site.
