Samsung is increasing its focus on personalisation and customisation with AI applications. This includes using the TV as the voice-controlled central player for managing a home, with the ability to control and protect all network-connected devices such as turning on the vacuum or oven. Food seen on the TV can be transferred to screens on a SmartThings fridge for menu inspiration and grocery lists.
Samsung currently supports the connection of 160 million devices, including 25 million appliances. Products from 340 partner brands are also connected. On average, Australians have 24 connected devices in their home.
Consumers can personalise AI to cater to individual tastes by creating AI generated on-screen images and accessing written translations in the language of their choice. Bixby is an AI voice assistant capable of natural conversation, providing hands-free device control and completion of multiple tasks at once. Bixby can be integrated into different SmartThings products such as TVs, fridges and phones. It can differentiate between voices for a personalised user experience, and screens on each smart device can control all other smart devices in the home.
Samsung Electronics Australia vice president of consumer electronics, Jeremy Senior, said “Samsung is focused on making sure our products are connected, and utilising technology such as AI for convenience, care and financial savings.
“We want to take the AI Home experience, and put it where you are with connected screens in all of our devices. SmartThings Hub will bring control to more appliances, and will be rolled out in Australia throughout 2025.”
