Acer announced a wide range of new laptop and desktop products to launch in coming months at CES in Las Vegas, with one new laptop selling strong sustainability credentials in partnership with National Geographic.

The Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition laptop incorporates design elements “evocative of planet Earth”, while the hardware itself has been developed to incorporate more sustainable features including 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics throughout the chassis and 50% PCR in the keyboard caps.

The Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition has also been designed to be easily upgraded and repaired. Each laptop purchase will also provide support to the National Geographic Society.

“Acer has been taking steps over the past several years to reduce its ecological footprint. The Vero product line-up, born from our Earthion platform, represents the latest of these efforts. We’re pleased with the reception the Aspire Vero has received from users and media alike, and we hope our efforts will encourage partners and industry colleagues to take similar steps in their own capacity,” Acer Inc IT products business general manager for notebooks, James Lin said.

Local availability and pricing for the National Geographic laptop is yet to be announced.
