UnderCurrent knows that the music is very important to the hip young things on Australia Day. Ever since listening to Spiderbait steal the top spot off Tool in the 1996 Hottest 100, UnderCurrent has itself been a big fan of listening to 10 hours of increasingly terrible music on our national day.
So well played to Yamaha for tapping into this market with its new Australia Day themed limited release headphones:
From left to right, HPH-PRO500 (RRP $449), HPH-PRO400 (RRP $349) and HPH-PRO300 (RRP $249).
“The PRO Series is as much about the look as it is about the sound,” Aussie hip-hopped Yamaha product manager Wesley Fischer. “And in the spirit of Australia Day, we’re giving you the chance to score a one-off, uniquely Australianised version of these headphones."
And in the spirit of Aussie hip hop and too many Like A Version covers ruining the Hottest 100, a couple of mates have ruined the Hottest 100 by scouring social media to collect public votes to create the Warmest 100.
Interestingly, this countdown confirms the scoop published on Twitter by Proper Journalist the day before the Warmest 100 went public:
Today is the last day of voting in the Hottest 100. My sources assure me Thrift Shop is going to be #1 in the biggest landslide on record.

Little Talks is currently in #2 position, but would need to double its vote to catch up.
