Canon Oceania has published its 2024 Sustainability Report that details how the company has delivered on its annual sustainability objectives, and key milestones and achievements across its material issues.

Over the past year, Canon has achieved its second Sustainability Advantage Gold Partner award for its longstanding advocacy of national product stewardship schemes, investment in circular economy outcomes and consistent efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In line with its corporate Kyosei philosophy of living and working together for the common good, Canon Oceania published its Sustainability Report annually to provide a transparent overview of the company’s sustainability performance and encourage greater communication with stakeholders.

Janet Leslie (Canon sustainability manager) & Nina Spannari (Canon general manager of marketing).

Key highlights from the report include:

  • Canon Oceania has re-aligned its 2030 greenhouse gas reduction plans to support Canon Group’s global targets approved by SBTi, to reduce its absolute emissions compared to 2022 by 42% for Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and 25% for Scope 3 emissions.
  • Investment from Canon Oceania in ANZRP lead to the creation of RESIN8, a lightweight, low-carbon material made from hard-to-recycle e-waste plastic that would otherwise go to landfill. RESIN8 improves the performance of structural concrete products and contributes to developing local circular economy capability.
  • Throughout 2023, Canon Australia continued to invest in and rebuild retail storefronts to ensure ongoing support for local and regional economic development.
  • Canon ran a photography workshop for 10 Anangu youth from three Aboriginal communities across NPY Lands in remote Australia.
