SYDNEY, NSW: Italian appliance manufacturer Smeg has announced the release of a new range of side-by-side stainless steel refrigerators, designed to complement its Classic and Linear kitchen appliance collections.

The range includes three side-by-side fridges – the SR600X, the SR610X and the SR620X. Made from fingerprint-proof stainless steel, each unit is “designed to be a beautiful, sleek, stand-alone piece of furniture…perfectly emulating the Guido Canali-designed Classic range of kitchen appliances,” according to a Smeg spokesperson.

The 622-litre SR600X features a 2.5 star MEPS energy rating, while the 603-litre SR610X and 608-litre SR620X both offer a 1.5 star MEPS rating. All units offer express chilling and “vertical freezer stacking” – a system which Smeg claims can add weeks to the shelf life of food.

They also feature twin fan, frost-free operation, crystal safety glass shelves that are designed to be spill proof, and front-mounted white LED displays. Both the SR610X and the SR620X feature filtered water and ice dispensers on the front, while the latter includes a new “one-touch entertainment hatch” on the right door.

The entertainment hatch “gives easy access to the most frequently used items – such as cold drinks – without compromising the temperature by  opening the entire door. That’s a great energy saving factor,” said the Smeg spokesperson.

Just like the brand’s famous FAB retro-style fridges, the new stainless steel range has been billed by Smeg as a choice for aesthetes and design lovers, who are looking for “advanced refrigeration technology in the very best of architectural style,” the spokesperson said.

The SR600X (622 litres, 2.5 star MEPS rating, RRP $2290), the SR610X (603 litres, 1.5 MEPS rating, RRP $2990) and the SR620X (608 litres, 1.5 MEPS rating, RRP $3190) are available nationally.
